Even consider how the same flyer would appear in black and white, in case monochrome photocopies are distributed by third parties. An obvious colour scheme gives a professional feel to any publication. Use related imagery with a clear message, but do not overuse colour. Once you have established the text for your flyer, it is time to organise the layout and appearance. Also, leave details of where to find more information, such as a website address or a telephone number. The text itself should be inclusive, talking directly to the reader. Background information is great, but not everyone will read the entirety of your flyer, so be sure to get the message across quickly. If you are raising awareness for an event, be sure to mention dates, times and goals at the first opportunity. One element where many flyers fail, is on their lack of focus.
